A photographer in Norway for international magazines and brands

I'm Oivind Haug, based in Oslo, and I've photographed places, people and food for international editorial and commercial clients for more than thirty-five years. I'm a contributing photographer for Condé Nast Traveller, and I shoot regularly for House & Garden, Travel + Leisure, Food & Wine, Soho House, Viking Cruises and The Thinking Traveller. The work is simple, natural and Scandinavian: real light, real people, nothing staged that doesn't need to be.
What I shoot
Hotels and their interiors, restaurants and the kitchens behind them, farms and food producers, and the people who run all of it. A hotel story for me is as much the night porter and the woman who bakes the bread as the room with the view. Where I work
All of Norway, from Oslo and the fjords to Lofoten and Svalbard, and across Scandinavia when the story goes there. I know the light, the seasons and the distances, which in Norway are larger than they look on a map. I travel with my own kit, drive myself, and can be on location in most of the country within a day. And I'm not only a Norway photographer: about half of my work is abroad, from Sicily and Tuscany to Istanbul, San Francisco, Miami and the Himalayas, whenever a client wants the same eye on a story somewhere else.
How it works
I work directly with picture editors, art directors and brand teams, and I'm used to briefs that arrive on a Tuesday for a shoot the following week. I handle my own logistics and permits in Norway, and I can bring a local producer or stylist when the job needs one. Stills and film.
