A food photographer in Norway for magazines, restaurants and food brands

I’m Oivind Haug, a travel photographer based in Oslo. Food is where most of my stories sit down: the kitchen before service, the market in the morning, the farm the milk comes from, the table at the end of the day.

I shot the cover of Food & Wine’s Global Tastemakers issue, May 2026, on the rooftop of Orient Express La Minerva in Rome. I photograph food for Condé Nast Traveller and House & Garden, and for restaurants, chefs and producers in Norway and abroad.

What I shoot

Restaurants and the people who run them. Chefs at work. Dishes as they leave the pass, not as they sit in a studio. Farms, dairies and the producers behind the menu.

Recent work includes Quince & Co in San Francisco, the restaurants of three-Michelin-star chef Michael Tusk. Chef José Pizarro on Spain’s Costa de la Luz for Condé Nast Traveller. TINE’s dairy farms across Norway, Hoel Gård by Lake Mjøsa, and Lilløy, a 1906 farmhouse on an island off Bergen, for D2. More on the Eat page.

How I work

I work in a small team, usually a food stylist or the chef and me, in the light that is already in the room. No heavy flash rigs, often one camera and one lens. The picture should feel like sitting at the table, not like looking at a set.

Stills and film, from the same shoot.

Where I work

Based in Oslo. I shoot across Norway and Scandinavia, and travel for food stories elsewhere: Rome, San Francisco, Andalucía.
